Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Due to an internal promotion we have a Senior Payroll Advisor vacancy. Join this growing team and provide payroll support to the wider business as part of the payroll function which sits within HR and directly reports to the Senior Manager HR Services and under the guidance of our Payroll Team Leader.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Collaborate with your internal customers to develop an understanding of business requirements and how they align with payroll processes.
  • Management of the day-to-day payroll administration, maintenance, reporting and operations for your business units
  • Manage, organise and plan for the fortnightly payroll, allowing sufficient time for review of inputs and variance reporting
  • On a roster basis, run the payroll processing steps on a Monday and Wednesday for the fortnightly pay
  • Champion great customer service; build empathetic, value add and trusted relationships in all interactions.
  • Identify and resolve day-to-day payroll issues through root cause analysis, and plan corrections with appropriate stakeholder engagement throughout
  • Take ownership for proactively managing risk, escalating appropriately and in accordance with Westpac requirements
  • Ensure all aspects of payroll operations comply with relevant legislation, agreements, policies, controls and audit requirements
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to Payroll team members, uplifting capability, elevating performance and promoting operational competency
  • Provide backup for and technical support to the Payroll Team Leader for accounts reconciliation, Payday filing, statutory returns, and super scheme requirements
