Due to continued strong growth in Central Otago in BestStart’s Southern Region, we are expanding our leadership team and seeking an additional Area Manager to support our centres in Invercargill and Balclutha. This newly created additional Area Manager role presents exciting opportunities for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive performance as part of our Southern Region Leadership team, overseeing the daily weekly and monthly operations of six early childhood centres in your Hub.
  • Provide strategic leadership and coaching to Centre Managers, ensuring high-quality care and education standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance enrolment, retention, and overall centre performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting professional development and staff well-being.
  • Monitor and manage budgets to meet financial targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, communities, and external partners.
  • Champion a culture of health and safety, ensuring a safe environment for children and staff.


What We’re Looking For

  • ECE Qualification and a minimum of 3-5 years in a management role within the early childhood education sector would be advantageous but not an absolute requirement.
  • Experience overseeing multiple sites, with a strong operational and business mindset.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve excellence in service delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and resolve challenges effectively.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • A growth mindset, adaptability, and confidence in leading change.
  • A passion for early childhood education and a commitment to making a lasting impact on children and families.
