Job Description

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for excellence in rating services? The Far North District Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader - Rating Services to join our team. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of rates and water billing, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and exceptional service delivery.

As the Team Leader – Rating Services you will demonstrate:

  • Develop and Maintain Rating Principles: Establish and uphold rating principles, practices, and procedures to guarantee accurate and timely rate charges annually.
  • Corporate Rating Policy: Support the development and implementation of corporate rating policies, providing technical input and analysis to aid strategic planning.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships within the organization, ensuring the Rating Services team acts as a trusted business partner.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of Rating Officers, delivering precise and timely rating information to the community, elected members, and managers.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing teams. This includes the ability to inspire and motivate team members, delegate tasks effectively, and manage conflicts. The ideal candidate should have a track record of successfully guiding teams towards achieving their goals and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of rating principles and practices. This means being well-versed in the methodologies and tools used in the industry to assess and rate various entities or products. The candidate should be able to apply this knowledge to ensure accurate and reliable ratings and stay updated with the latest developments and best practices in the field.
  • Analytical Mindset: The ability to provide insightful technical input and analysis. This involves being able to critically evaluate data, identify trends and patterns, and make informed decisions based on the analysis. The candidate should be adept at problem-solving and capable of offering innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships. This includes the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders. The candidate should be able to convey technical information in a way that is understandable to non-technical audiences and be skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution.
