The purpose of the People and High Performance team is to partner with senior leaders in the delivery of our people and organisational strategies, to improve the employee experience across Oranga Tamariki and improve outcomes for Tamariki and Rangatahi.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior HR professional to step into a strategic people position as Manager, People and High Performance. This is role is responsible for leading a small team of Strategic HR Business Partners, who proactively work alongside the business and act as trusted advisors to senior leaders within Oranga Tamariki. The role is one of four Manager, People and High Performance positions, who share responsibility for partnering with our executive leadership team and report through to the Director, People and High Performance. A key focus of the role is ensuring our workforce is fit for purpose, and our people strategies and approaches attract, develop, support, and retain talent aligned to our business needs. As a seasoned Strategic HR Business Partner, you will play a critical role in ensuring leaders are provided with high quality data driven information and expert advice that is readily accessible, robust, addresses the issues raised, and helps them make evidence-based decisions.

Key requirements of the role include but are not limited to:

  • An experienced senior manager, with a strong strategic and HR business partnering background.
  • Leader of people with the ability to influence and motivate.
  • Good understanding of the workings of Government.
  • Strong people change management experience.
  • An adept communicator and engager of people.
  • An understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns, in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.
  • Experience working within a large complex organisation.
