He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our pool and leisure facilities are more popular than ever, and as Lead Lifeguard, for our Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers not only have a fantastic experience but a safe one.
Your main responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing guidance on and supporting the delivery of aquatics-based programmes
- General lifeguarding duties to ensure customers are safe and looked after
- Supporting the Team Leader with day-to-day operations at the Centre.
We are looking to fill 2 Permanent part-time positions x 28hours. As our centre opens 7 days a week, the ability to work early and late shifts, as well as weekends, is crucial in this role. Availability for extended hours during school holidays and summer is essential for success in this role. Shifts below:
- Sunday: 8:00am-2:30pm, Monday: 5:30am-11:30am, Tuesday: 5:30am-11:30am, Wednesday: 5:30am-11:30am, and Thursday: 5:30am-11:30am
- Tuesday: 3:00pm-8:30pm, Wednesday: 3:00pm-8:30pm, Thursday: 3:00pm-8:30pm (Extends to 9:30pm for a term-based booking), Friday: 3:00pm-8:30pm, Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm (Moves to 6:30am - 3:00pm for seasonal/winter booking)

You’ll have a passion for aquatics and enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience with customers and colleagues to improve water safety. You will be an excellent communicator and committed to delivering exceptional aquatic programmes and providing a high level of customer satisfaction.
Joining an energetic and passionate team, you’ll be a keen team player with a flexible approach and be able to take the initiative to help drive a positive safety culture. You’ll need to hold a current First Aid Certificate as well as a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate.
