The Senior Public Relations and Communications Specialist is responsible for developing,
implementing, and managing strategic communication plans to enhance the organization’s reputation, promote key initiatives, and engage with diverse audiences. This role requires exceptional skills in media relations, strategic messaging, crisis communication, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in public relations, strong leadership abilities, and the capacity to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Communication Planning:
o Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies aligned with
organizational goals and objectives.
o Identify target audiences and craft compelling messages to promote the
organization’s mission, vision, and key initiatives.
2. Media Relations:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and
influencers.
o Proactively pitch stories, write press releases, op-eds, and media kits to secure
positive media coverage.
o Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson when required.
3. Crisis Communication:
o Develop crisis communication plans and protocols to manage reputational risks.
o Provide real-time support and counsel during crises, ensuring consistent,
transparent, and timely messaging.
4. Content Development:
o Create high-quality content, including speeches, articles, newsletters, social media
posts, and internal communications.
o Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines, tone, and strategic messaging.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support communication
objectives.
o Foster strong relationships with key partners, community leaders, and advocacy
groups.
6. Digital Communications:
o Oversee digital communication strategies, including social media management,
website content, and online campaigns.
o Monitor digital analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and
adjust strategies as needed.
7. Event and Campaign Management:
o Plan and execute public relations campaigns, press conferences, media events, and
promotional activities.
o Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging across all
platforms.
8. Monitoring and Reporting:
o Track media coverage, public sentiment, and industry trends.
o Prepare regular reports on communication metrics, campaign effectiveness, and
media performance.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or
a related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in public relations, corporate
communications, or media relations.
Skills:
