Job Description

  • Be in control of your roster- shifts that suit your lifestyle and availability
  • We have a dedicated internal casual team (MetFlex) that will look after your training and development, working schedule, work support etc.
  • Work in great kitchens under the supervision of experienced Chefs and Kitchen Managers
  • Learn while you earn
  • Ongoing casual shifts for all Villages in your area - move around kitchens
  • Permanent roles available if you want to move from the casual position
  • We will develop and train you in the career path within the culinary space
  • Work in a rewarding environment - supporting our residents and within great, dedicated Metlifecare teams


About the role
Our dedicated Kitchen team are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef or Cook to join on a Casual basis at our MetFlex Team. You will be responsible for whipping up delicious quality home cooking and designing tasty menus for our residents in a restaurant environment. This position is responsible for the profitable management of the dining operation and experience, ensuring a welcoming and professional customer experience, driving growth, meeting budgets and ensuring food quality and hygiene standards are exceeded.

Locations: We have Villages with great kitchens in East and South Auckland who always need cover from great Cooks and Chefs.

  • Whipping up delicious offerings in a restaurant environment
  • Coordinating the kitchen to ensure it operates effortlessly
  • Maintaining a high standard of food with consistent portion sizes and outstanding presentation
  • Using your leadership skills to help lead our kitchen team


About you

  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
  • Commercial kitchen and or café experience is preferred
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Food industry qualification
  • Excellent food hygiene practices and personal presentation
