Role Overview
We're looking for a talented and passionate Senior Platform Engineer with a strong background in backend and infrastructure engineering to join our fully remote team. This role is pivotal as we scale our platform horizontally across new technologies and services.
You'll help architect and build scalable, resilient systems, establish cloud infrastructure best practices, and support our core platform's development. With a particular focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Terraform, you'll drive infrastructure-as-code adoption and help us lay solid foundations for the next stage of our growth.
This role is ideal for someone with 4+ years of experience who thrives in both software development and cloud infrastructure, and who enjoys building the technical backbone that enables teams to move fast at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering
- Design and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.
- Build and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform for automation, consistency, and versioning.
- Define and advocate for infrastructure best practices, including monitoring, security, and cost optimization.
- Collaborate on system design and deployment strategies to support horizontal scaling and reliability.
Software Engineering
- Build and maintain backend systems using Node.js, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code aligned with industry standards.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize applications and services for performance and resilience.
- Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to scope, plan, and deliver high-impact features and infrastructure.
- Contribute to agile processes including async standups, sprint rituals, and retrospectives.
- Mentor software engineers and promote a culture of learning and technical excellence.
- Help maintain an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering environment.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years of professional experience in software development and/or cloud engineering.
- Deep familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, particularly services like Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub.
- Proven hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies.
- Understanding of backend technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, Next.js, and GraphQL.
- Understanding of PostgreSQL and relational database principles.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Bonus - understanding of modern software architecture and design patterns.
