We are looking for a full time Rotational Pharmacist to join the MercyAscot Pharmacy team working across both Mercy Hospital (Epsom) and Ascot Hospital (Greenlane) sites. As a rotational pharmacist, MercyAscot offers the unique opportunity to rotate through our licenced community pharmacy & hospital dispensary (combined) and clinical pharmacy rotations (we cover orthopaedics, general surgery, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, head and neck, ICU).
This position will suit a pharmacist with up-to-date pharmaceutical knowledge and commitment to quality & safety, who will thrive on delivering high-quality care to our patients, hospital staff and customers. Along with being a fantastic team player with excellent communication skills, your efficiency, positive attitude, and desire to make a difference in providing quality patient care will see you succeed in this fast-paced and varied role.
This role is full time, working 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday (7.30am to 4pm). Additionally, participation in the weekend dispensary roster and on-call pharmacist roster will be required after appropriate training.
Key duties will include:
- Collaboration with other pharmacists to deliver consistent clinical pharmacy services across the organisation
- Support with medication histories and reconciliations, pharmaceutical review of patients and providing appropriate patient counselling
- Dispense and supply of medications for patients at MercyAscot hospitals and community pharmacy prescriptions
- Assist with the development and review of medication and pharmacy related policies and protocols for the hospital
- Ensure best practice guidelines regarding medication safety are built into workflows for improved patient outcomes and enhanced patient experience
Our Successful Applicant will have:
- Registration with the Pharmacy Council of NZ and a current APC
- Hospital/ clinical pharmacy experience is an advantage (but not essential)
- Community pharmacy experience is an advantage but not essential (new graduates who have just completed their internship are welcome to apply)
- Competency using RxONE dispensing software is an advantage
- Commitment to quality, accuracy and safety in their work
