THE OPPORTUNITY: In this 12-month fixed term role, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering compelling, up-to-the-minute video content across multiple platforms. With the freedom and skills to manage the lineup of our live stream content, you’ll play a key role in shaping the flow of breaking news and feature content. If you're a strategic thinker with a passion for innovative storytelling, this is your chance to make an impact in the fast-paced world of digital news.

HOW YOU'LL DO IT:

  • Oversee the rundown of NZ Herald’s news stream, ensuring a compelling blend of live and pre-recorded content.
  • Work seamlessly across teams to generate engaging video stories, from breaking news to in-depth interviews, ensuring quality content delivery.
  • Lead the charge during live events, offering quick and clear direction to presenters, reporters, and producers in real-time.
  • Collaborate with journalists and video producers to craft the perfect mix of content for a diverse audience, balancing hard news, business, and entertainment.
  • Adapt quickly to fast-changing news, ensuring a continuous flow of relevant content without delay.
  • Use your excellent communication skills to ensure smooth coordination and execution across all teams.
  • Drive content strategy by pitching creative ideas and fresh angles, contributing to the wider news agenda.
  • Keep the audience in mind, using data and insights to guide content development and maximise engagement.
  • Maintain editorial standards, ensuring content is factually accurate and meets NZME’s legal and ethical guidelines.

  • You bring significant newsroom experience, with expertise in multimedia content delivery and a passion for breaking news.
  • As a leader, you inspire and motivate teams to produce high-quality, engaging content while maintaining a calm, organised approach under pressure.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment, with exceptional multitasking abilities and an eye for detail.
  • Your strong communication skills allow you to guide and collaborate with various teams, from presenters to journalists and producers.
  • You understand the digital landscape, always seeking innovative ways to present stories and keep audiences engaged.
  • Your background in news production makes you comfortable directing live broadcasts and making quick decisions to ensure content is delivered swiftly and effectively.
