This highly specialised role is pivotal in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of contractors, their employees, volunteers, and others involved. Your expertise will directly contribute to creating a safer working environment and upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.
During your 12 your month fixed term, your primary responsibility will be to Lead an organisation-wide initiative to develop and implement the Contractor Safety Management Framework, including an ongoing maintenance programme. This role is crucial for the successful delivery of these comprehensive projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end development and implementation of the Contractor Safety Management Framework.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships and work closely with internal and external stakeholders across the organisation and supply chain.
• Framework Development: Collaborate directly with the Contractor Safety Team to ensure the framework meets the needs of all participants.
• Technical Expertise: Provide technical and operational support to Auckland Council and supply chain partners to meet Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) duties and standards.
• Training and Coaching: Train and coach senior managers, Project and Contract Managers, and other relevant functions across the Council on HSW responsibilities as defined by the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015

We will be looking for specific experience with:
• Project management, planning and prioritisation skills – at enterprise level.
• Ability to develop and lead effective partnerships.
• Technical knowledge and expertise regarding contractor safety management, and occupational health, safety and wellbeing.
• Ability to effectively communicate across a wide audience and to adapt messaging, format and style to meet audience needs.
• Extensive Experience in People Leadership.
• Proven ability to multitask and work within the context of uncertainty and complexity.
• Action orientated and ability to do what needs to be done to deliver the required outcomes.
