Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

As the Practice Lead for Digital Enablement, you will play a crucial role in guiding the University's adoption and utilisation of existing and emerging technologies. You will oversee the operational delivery of the Digital Enablement practice, lead a dedicated team, and cultivate an atmosphere of continuous improvement. Your capacity to influence stakeholders, execute change management strategies, and advocate for innovative practices will significantly contribute to the University's ability to maintain a competitive edge in the constantly evolving digital landscape.

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

Oversee the performance of the Digital Enablement team, setting clear goals, providing coaching, and ensuring a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Develop and implement change management strategies that support the adoption of IT services across the University. You’ll be a key advisor, ensuring smooth transitions and driving business improvements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, translating complex technical and business needs into actionable strategies.
Scale the practice’s services by leveraging tools, technologies, and continuous process improvements. Prioritise work effectively to meet the growing demands of the University’s IT services.
Lead proactive engagement with the University, advising on how emerging technologies can enhance operational effectiveness and meet evolving business needs.

Kei te kimi mātou | Key Requirements

A tertiary qualification in an IT or Business Management subject, or equivalent extensive industry experience.
Industry recognised certification in Change Management at a practitioner or manager level.
Minimum 7 years' experience in an IT or IT-related position, with a deep background in developing and implementing effective business change.
Proven experience in building and effectively managing cohesive teams, including the ability to coach and develop a team.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and drive alignment across various departments.
Experience implementing and improving business change practices.
Ability to offer expert advice on the application of digital services, ensuring they meet both business and technical needs.
Proven ability to assess, manage, and influence demand for IT services, and implement long-term strategies for continuous improvement.
Demonstrable familiarity with current strategic issues facing IT departments (preferably in a university or NZ government context).

This full-time position is based at our Palmerston North campus. Appointment will be commensurate of skills and experience and expected to be within the $130 - $170K range.
