Job Description

Applications for up to two Directors are now open for the Board of Urban Plus Limited, a Council Controlled Organisation.

Urban Plus is a multi-faceted property management and development company, predominantly focused towards social and public housing outcomes along the housing continuum.

The Urban Plus Group comprises Urban Plus Limited (UPL), UPL Limited Partnership (UPLLP) and UPL Developments Limited (UPLDL).

Lower Hutt has a significant shortfall in the supply of quality and affordable homes. To deliver its Statement of Intent, UPL procures and develops land/property with multiple outcomes in mind, such as:
• developing and releasing discounted housing for the first home buyer and owner-occupier target markets;
• working with our partners to develop and supply new Community Housing; and
• growing its own housing stock to provide more options in the long-term rental space.

UPL looks to align with providers who deliver progressive home ownership and long-term rental outcomes. In terms of partnering with Community Housing providers, these include Dwell, He Herenga Kura, and Te Rūnanganui o Te Āti Awa. Urban Plus actively participates in the market to procure land for development with the intention to grow in all aspects of its operations in upcoming years. UPL is committed to working in greater partnership with Mana Whenua.

We are seeking applications from people who bring a diverse set of skills and experience in property, community and or commercial development within the context of achieving wider social, environmental and sustainability outcomes. Governance experience as well as membership of the Institute of Directors is preferred, but not essential. The ideal candidate will also need to have effective decision-making and relationship-management skills, the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and Mana Whenua.

UPL meets approximately eight times per year, and these meetings are held in Lower Hutt.

Information about UPL can be found on their website - www.urbanplus.co.nz/.

Applications (including cover letter and CV) are to be sent to recruitment@huttcity.govt.nz by 5pm Friday 9 May 2025.
