Position Overview:
The Sr. Director Product Manager – Nursing Lead will be responsible for the strategic leadership, growth, and management of our Nursing product portfolio. This individual owns the end-to-end product strategy for Colibri’s Nursing portfolio, including the revenue and growth strategy. This leader has accountability and ownership for products throughout the product life cycle, from needs analysis and requirements, development through launch and ongoing enhancements. The leader will leverage customer insights, data, and market and competitive knowledge to define the Nursing product vision and work closely with marketing, engineering, sales, and success to ensure revenue goals are met and customers are satisfied. As a key leader, they will collaborate across multiple departments, manage a team of product managers, and ensure the successful execution of the product line’s strategy, enhancing the company's market position and driving revenue growth. This is a people leader role.
What You'll Do
- Manage the Colibri Nursing portfolio, including ongoing product strategy, annual planning, customer insights and needs, and associated requirements for new features, offerings, and experiences.
- Develop key Nursing growth strategies including the “nursing bridge” that includes pre- and post-licensure support (beyond continuing education).
- Grow school top-of-funnel newly certified Nursing Students with SimpleNursing Nursing School and NCLEX TestPrep offerings.
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams by providing clear direction, consistent feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Extend reach upstream with new instructor and student Nursing University B2B offerings.
- Partner with B2B enterprise strategy teams to develop new hospital B2B nursing offerings.
- Partner with Membership and CE teams to develop content and offering strategies for Nursing Membership including ‘New Grad’, ‘Transitions in Practice, and ‘Nursing Career Services’ offerings and cover the nursing career life cycle.
- Partner with technology business partners and other product leaders to prioritize product needs for the nursing portfolio, including a cohesive membership strategy across brands.
- Work closely with the content team to prioritize content development and build an annual content roadmap (courses, formats, and other content).
- Partner with the CE team to develop a Nursing product and brand strategy with cohesive testing plan that allows Nursing brands market share growth while building towards a long-term unified CE model.
- Determine topic themes and strategy for conferences, membership, CE offerings, and a portfolio of webinars, podcasts, and other content obligations.
- Accountability to track, report, and drive key product performance metrics across product, marketing, sales, and support teams.
- Analyze various product inputs, customer requirements, designing solution architectures and developing the business case for new product development.
- Understand and interpret business requirements in tandem with the product technology team to create use-cases and user interface wireframes, and to determine internal and external system requirements.
- Organize market research including analyzing customer segments, reviewing industry research reports, and assessing strengths and weaknesses of competitors.
- Study Nursing industry standards and staying up-to-date on industry changes and compliance issues.
- Innovation & Growth: Drive innovation within the product line, identifying emerging trends in professional education, learning technologies, and modern social platforms to shape the future of the product offerings.
- Gather inspiration and ideas by visiting/contacting customers regularly and reviewing software and other products that solve similar problems in other domains.
- Collect direct customer feedback by organizing user tests, studying customer support incidents, administering user surveys, and visiting customers to study product interaction in their natural environment.
- Coordinate with sales, marketing, technology, content development, and customer support to bring together divergent ideas and convince various stakeholders to rally behind a single product vision.
- Work with our VP of Product to manage the product roadmap, maintaining the feature backlog, and coordinating releases.
- Communicate product and roadmap updates across Colibri.
- Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of product management experience in advanced professional development markets or 5+ years in a leadership role within the Nurse Practioner education or learning industry required.
- Successfully worked in a matrix shared service operating model.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentorship and talent development.
- Familiarity and experience working with product design frameworks (e.g. Design Canvas).
- Proven track record of developing and managing large, complex product portfolios with demonstrated financial success.
- Deep understanding of the professional learning landscape, including trends in certifications, instructional design, and digital education platforms.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach to innovation and product development.
- Demonstratable history of bringing products to market and driving business growth
- Nursing Industry Knowledge is a plus.
- 15-20% Travel as-needed for customer visits and team offsite meetings.
