Ko tō tūranga – your role
The Application Services Lead will be accountable for the IT operational stability, reliability and scalability of One New Zealand’s IT application systems. This role will oversee a largely outsourced application support and maintenance teams based in NZ and offshore.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

  • Ensure that IT applications are available, reliable and perform to the business needs – delivering to SLA targets and Technology OLA’s.
  • Responsible for fostering a continuous improvement culture and drive operational excellence across our IT Application landscape.
  • Stakeholder Management and Management oversight for IT Application Support and Maintenance
  • Act as a point of escalation for the Applications Support and Maintenance team and take a leadership role in crisis management situations
  • E2E Problem Management and their SLAs
  • Manage operational risk – through the development of risk mitigation strategies, Capacity Management and Service Continuity plans
  • Ensuring health, safety, and wellbeing of all Application Operations (AO) staff.
  • Responsible for On-boarding and Off boarding of all Application Operations staff.
  • Own and manage the pre-production and production environments including incident management, problem tracking, change management, release management, service levels agreements, performance monitoring, capacity planning, vendor management
  • Work with Service Management Lead to ensure governance and improvements of ITIL processes.


Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring

  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in Engineering and/or Support Operations with large-scale distributed systems - you will be part of the IT Operations team and will be responsible for stability and reliability of our platforms and apps. You will also be working on initiatives across process automation, platforms maintenance and enhancing security and stability of IT applications.
  • Familiarity of Site Reliability Engineering and Platform Engineering concepts
  • Ability to lead a high performing team, make decisions under pressure and communicate effectively.
  • Strong communications skills with ability to influence and persuade others.
  • Inclined toward adapting the new AI/Machine learning-based tools and technology for improved service delivery and to optimize the operational cost
  • Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders – customers, vendors, partners and other internal teams.
  • Should possess exceptional troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively use data driven problem solving tools and techniques such as Kepner Tregoe and DMAIC
  • Experienced in leading Onshore/Offshore application development and support model
