BestStart Inglewood is seeking a passionate and dedicated cook to join our energetic and tight-knit team. Our focus is to provide quality education and care to the children in our community.

We are a small whanau-based centre with many ties within our local community. We are the stepping stones in the lives of tamariki within our community. Tamariki come to us as seeds, kaiako nurture tamariki throughout their learning journey so they are able to meet their full potential and blossom, ready to take on the next steps in their educational journey and life.

This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week Monday-Friday.

About the Role:

Whether you are a newly qualified or an experienced chef if you have a passion for providing meals for young children, we want to hear from you. An exciting opportunity has come about for a new Centre Cook to join our busy team at BestStart Glasgow Street. We are searching for someone who can provide fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals for our children each day.

As our Centre Cook you will plan, prepare and cook an appetising and culturally varied menu for the children, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. You’ll need to be efficient with your time and have an excellent knowledge of foods that promote good nutrition and healthy eating for our children.

Role requirements:

Commit to making a difference in the lives of young learners with a team dedicated to excellence.

We are looking for the following:

  • Knowledge around health and safety in the kitchen and set high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
  • A passion for cooking and baking
  • An understanding of allergies and dietary requirements
  • Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders each week
  • The ability to remain within the budgets for ordering food
  • A passion for promoting healthy eating for young children
