We’re on the lookout for a Registered Clinician (RN, SW or OT) to take the reins to lead and manage our Brooklyn Crisis Respite service in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington. Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity within our modern Acute Crisis Respite service, an alternative environment focused on wellbeing and connection. Our ‘Whatever it takes’ attitude encourages support staff to co-create a peaceful and reflective journey with our guests in an inviting and stylish home-like setting.

As a registered health professional, Registered Nurse, Social Worker or an Occupational therapist with frontline management experience, you will manage our Brooklyn service, which provides 24/7 crisis respite care for up to six adults experiencing mental health distress that prevents them from staying in their home environment. This setting offers short-term crisis respite support, working alongside clinical teams and GPs.

The ideal Team Coach for this service will possess excellent risk assessment skills, knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatment options, strong relationship skills with stakeholders, and the ability to lead and manage our dedicated kaimahi. This is an opportunity to shape this peer-influenced service by leveraging your strengths and passion in an acute setting.
As one of our valued frontline leaders, you will be fully supported by our exceptional leadership team in the Central region to grow and flourish

You’ll also: 
Be part of a leadership team, attend regular meetings and Team Coach professional development session
Contribute to a National rostered after-hours service on a rotating basis. 
This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm. Additionally, you will be supported to be part of a rotating after hours on-call roster.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing meaningful and collaborative partnerships

  • Working alongside primary and secondary care services, and the wider community to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Providing regular coaching, leading, and inspiring a passionate team

Mōu | You
You will have:  

  • A current New Zealand registration in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy
  • Clinical experience working in mental health and addiction.
  • A current full New Zealand driver’s license
  • Lived experience or a strong understanding or peer principles.
  • A demonstrated ability a cultural competence in working with Māori and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Proven leadership experience
  • A current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.
