About the Role
As a Superyacht Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced automation systems on superyachts. Your key responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to integrate cutting-edge automation solutions.
Designing and programming control systems for lighting, climate control, entertainment, security, and more.
Conducting regular system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and providing technical support.
Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in yacht automation technology.

Typical Duties Would Be:

  • PLC Programming (ladder, function block, structured text) – Fuji PLC
  • HMI Programming – ProFace Screens
  • Modbus communications
  • CAN-Bus communications
  • Data Management – Pro-Server EX
  • Create and maintain project supporting documentation in Excel & Word formats.
  • Electrical Drawings - EPLAN
  • Provide remote support to overseas yachts, upload and maintain software changes.
  • Field work commissioning & fault-finding of systems
  • Travel to luxurious overseas locations
  • General assistance to the company directors and other engineers

About You:

  • Degree qualifications or a Trade certificate in either mechatronics/electronics/software or electrical.
  • Testing, diagnostics and validation skills – strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Programming ability to develop or assess PLC-based systems and implement design-based control system improvements.
  • HMI application development experience.
  • Advanced in AutoCad or EPLAN
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Team player but able to work autonomously.


About the Company
Our client is a Marine Electrical business specialising in the Superyacht industry. They produce their own Monitoring & Control Systems interfacing Power Generation, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, HVAC, and all manner of systems that make today's Super-yachts tick.

The team operates from New Zealand's largest Superyacht refit & repair centre. Their travel lift is the largest in the southern hemisphere! Their work is varied, challenging, and of highest quality.

Energetic and fun but serious about what they do they are keen to offer opportunities for further learning and upskilling. The type of person we are looking for will demonstrate initiative, drive, flexibility and enjoy working with a variety of other trades and engineers.

While we are keen on attracting someone with skills as close to the above, as possible, we would look at those who have industrial design experience and can see themselves cross-training into Marine.
