Job Description
HealthCare NZ is a leading provider of in-home and community-based health, rehabilitation, nursing, mental health, and disability support. Our aim is to support people to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible and to maintain their independence regardless of age, injury, illness, or disability.
Are you looking to make a real difference in your community? We are currently looking for empathetic and passionate Support Workers to work with our medically fragile client based in Orewa.
Our client is an intelligent 10-year-old girl who needs a fun-loving support worker to assist her in living her best life. As a wheelchair user and ventilator dependant, she needs an energetic, competent and organised person with attention to detail to help her achieve her goals; keeping her healthy, learning, communicating with others, therapy-based activities, school and social events. Due to the nature of cares required, female applicants would be preferred.
This is an awesome opportunity to improve a child's daily life and an ideal role for anyone interested in, or currently studying, child health, nursing, education and/or physical development. Suitable applicants will be able to relate well to children, have a gentle personality. You will be reliable and able to plan and manage your time well.
Shifts:
- Ideally person with flexibly during the weekdays
- Monday - Sunday rotating roster.
- With an opportunity to pick up more hours for sleepovers.
What does a Support Worker do?
Due to the intimate nature of the cares, a female candidate is preferred. We are looking for someone who has worked in a hospital environment and with children in the past. Due to the complexity of the cares, commitment to the shifts is vital. Responsibilities can be varied, and you will follow a care plan, which may include some or all of the below:
- Suctioning & tracheostomy tube change
- Moving and Handling (Hoist)
- Personal care
- Ventilator (Astral Ventilator)
- The role goes where the client goes - to school, home, and out and about in the community.
- Able to assist a Registered Nurse
What's in it for you?
We are committed to our employees and are proud to employ and train the best people in all areas of our organisation. We provide a career pathway for staff through the learning and development framework to achieve NZQA qualifications, which are fully funded. You will earn between $23.38 - $29.10 per hour, depending on experience and qualification.
This is an opportunity to join New Zealand's largest community healthcare provider with the potential to gain experience in a variety of disciplines including aged care, disability, mental health and rehabilitation. Whilst you will be part of a large national organisation, you will join a dedicated and close-knit team. We also provide free EAP service, company mobile phone and travel reimbursement between your clients.
