Join our experienced, skilled kitchen team at The Shire’s Rest Café and Green Dragon Inn helping to provide a world class visitor Food and Beverage experience.

These Full-Time positions include early mornings, evenings, late nights, and weekend shifts—depending on which of the 5 fully equipped kitchen you are rostered in-so the ideal candidate must be flexible and ready for a dynamic schedule!



Chef De Partie position:

This role is all about ensuring the smooth and efficient production of top-notch food, while managing and organising a section of the kitchen. You'll be supporting the Sous Chefs, Chef de Cuisines and Executive Chef in delivering outstanding hospitality excellence.

Specific Duties include:

To consistently prepare meals of the highest quality for visitors. Follow direction, be a team player, and communicate in a way that supports your senior and junior staff for the betterment of the business.
Complete prep lists and organise your activities in an efficient manner. Maintain kitchen systems and procedures, including ordering and stock management.
Complete tasks required as part of the food control plan including cleaning schedules.
Adhere to all relevant legislation, Health and Safety at Work Act and Food Safety Act Maintain the highest food safety and hygiene standards.
Employ stock management processes to ensure minimum wastage; ordering, rotation, proper storage.
Maintain all company policies and procedures. Ensure all plant building and equipment are operational and properly maintained. Adhere to Food and beverage Team Culture Policy.
To complete any other duties required by management. Step in to support all other Back of House areas whenever required.


Sous Chef position:

Assist the Chef de Cuisines and Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen with catering food production

Specific Duties include:

Consistently prepare meals of the highest quality for our visitors
Be a team player, communicating effectively with both senior and junior staff to enhance the overall business
Plan and organise prep lists and workflows to ensure smooth service and maintain quality control
Manage food costs, maintain margins, and seek efficiencies to drive profitability
Share knowledge, train, and mentor staff to raise standards across the team
Adhere to all relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and Food Safety Act
Maintain the highest food safety and hygiene standards
Implement stock management processes to minimise waste, ensure proper ordering, rotation, and storage
Uphold and enforce all company policies and procedures
Complete prep lists and organise your activities in an efficient manner.
Ensuring minimal wastage
Follow direction, be a team player, and communicate in a way that supports your senior and junior staff for the betterment of the business.
Maintain the highest food safety and hygiene standards.
Adhere to all relevant legislation, Health and Safety at Work Act and Food Safety Act
Ensuring all areas you are responsible for are clean at the end of the day and everything is prepared ready for the next day

Recognised tertiary qualification in cookery or equivalent but not essential

Attended NZQA Unit standards 167 or equivalent.
Training skills
Food Safety Certificate would be beneficial
Experience in basic computer skills
A pre-employment NZ Police Check may be required
