He angitūtanga / The opportunity:

Join our dynamic team at Massey University, Manawatu, as a Chef. This is a Permanent Full Time Position. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food to our customers, residents, and clients, ensuring all tasks are performed in compliance with Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and present food, ensuring quality control and consumer satisfaction.
  • Assemble and prepare ingredients, including dairy, dry goods, fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, and poultry.
  • Maintain kitchen supplies, receive deliveries, and ensure proper storage and rotation.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen premises, ensuring hygiene and safety standards are met.
  • Develop menus to meet special dietary and cultural needs, and assist with ordering and stock control.


He kōrero mōu / About you:

  • NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery or equivalent.
  • Previous experience cooking in a similar environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive outlook and professional manner.
  • Team player with good communication skills and a flexible approach.
  • Physically fit, reliable, and able to pass police clearance.
