They are seeking an Senior-level Planner to join their team. This position is based in their Rotorua office. However, within this role, you will also work closely with the other planners across the

The Role

  • Prepare, lodge, and manage regulatory approvals and actions as required under the Resource Management Act 1991, local bylaws and national statutes on behalf of clients for subdivision and land use consents, including discharge permits, water takes, earthworks consents, outline plan approvals, Notices of Requirement, Private Plan Change Requests etc
  • Undertake special planning tasks such as DOC Concessions, Policy, Management Plans
  • Pre-application preparation, attendance at meetings and guidance.
  • Provide due diligence, feasibility and planning advice to clients.
  • Providing internal planning advice to Engineers and Surveyors within the business as relevant and appropriate on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Producing reports, preparing and presenting expert evidence for hearings.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships quickly and effectively within the team and clients.
  • Consultation and negotiation with affected parties, stakeholders and the general public.
  • Preparation of submissions on resource consent applications, district or regional plan changes.
  • Local government services, including consent processing.


About You

  • A Degree in Environmental Planning or similar
  • Experience within either the Consulting or Local/Regional Council sectors
  • At least 5 years’ experience within the New Zealand planning environment
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Presentation Skills
  • General understanding of Maori cultural values, tikanga and treaty of Waitangi
  • Ideally, some experience in consultation
