Emergency Management has a 14-month fixed term opportunity for a Business Operations Lead to join this passionate team. This role will report directly to the Head of Business & Welfare and work closely with the General Manager and Lead Team to ensure ongoing business continuity.
This role supports the various Auckland Emergency Management teams in their day-to-day operations. You will be a key player in the evolving Civil Defence Emergency Management priorities and strategic direction.
This role will be required to participate in the CDEM on-call and stand-by emergency response system and support emergency response during activation.
You could expect to work on:
• Lead the development of the departmental business continuity plan
• Direct administrative support to the General Manager; manage sensitive and important issues, resolving or escalating when required.
• Support staff communications business-as-usual networks to ensure smooth and effective messaging
• Ongoing staff induction support, building maintenance and financial management

You will likely have experience managing day-to-day business operations for a large and complex team. To be successful in this role you will have resilience and the ability to adapt to changing environments and at times high-pressure situations.
You will have the political and emergency acumen to work alongside senior management and our external stakeholders such as NEMA, Fire and Emergency and other lifelines.
We are specifically looking for:
• Ability to think proactively and resolve issues efficiently
• Tertiary degree or relevant experience in emergency management and/or business management/operational management would be preferred
• Experience working with our Coordinated Incident Management System would be preferred
