Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Executive Assistant will contribute to the overall performance of the Tasman District by providing high level, professional executive assistance and management support to the District Governance Group (DGG)
The position will support the Tasman District Commander and wider District Governance Group as required.
You will contribute to and encourage a high-performance culture that supports each other to perform at their potential and in doing so contributing to high trust and confidence in police.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide proactive strategic executive support including proactive risk management to ensure the District Commander is kept informed of issues and priorities and has the relevant information required.
- Develop a good understanding of all DGGs work portfolios and a thorough understanding of the priorities of the District Commander.
- Act on the District Commander’s behalf in routine matters in their absence.
- Proactively review papers submitted to the DGG to ensure they are fit for purpose, meet the quality standards required and ready for signing.
- Proactively manages all Action Points, maintain a tracking system for key tasks and follow up with the District Commanders direct reports.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Tasman District, highly motivated, takes initiative and is outcomes driven.
- Strong problem-solving skills, diary management, events coordination, travel bookings

- Demonstrable track record of supporting high level Executives.
- Strong attention to detail, and an ability to multi-task within a very busy environment.
- Have the ability to obtain a Security Clearance if needed.
- Full driver license is desirable.

- This role is based in the Tasman District. Some travel may be required.
- The successful applicant must be based in Nelson.

To be eligible for this role, you may be asked to obtain and maintain a CONFIDENTIAL / SECRET / TOP SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:
- A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
- A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $80,295 and $83,973 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
