The Business Intelligence Data Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting local government operations by transforming raw data into actionable insights. This position involves several key responsibilities:

  • Data Collection: Gather data from various sources, working with departments for comprehensive collection.
  • Data Analysis: Use advanced techniques to analyse large datasets, identifying trends and anomalies.
  • Data Interpretation: Interpret analysis results to create clear reports for evidence-based decision-making.
  • Improving Services: Identify areas for improvement in public services through data analysis.
  • Driving Efficiency: Streamline operations by identifying inefficiencies and recommending improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with departments and stakeholders, translating complex data for non-technical audiences.
  • Technology Utilisation: Use business intelligence tools to automate data processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with trends in data analytics to keep the government at the forefront of decision-making.

I ā koe - About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Relevant Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
  • 3+ years in Business Intelligence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to translate business needs into data solutions
  • Proficient in creating effective data visualisations and dashboards
  • Experience with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills for non-technical stakeholders
  • Meticulous in data validation, cleaning, and quality assurance
  • Proficient in SQL and data manipulation languages
  • Experience with MS SQL Server (2008-2017), SSRS, SSIS, SSAS
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing and related architectures
  • Excellent organisational skills for managing multiple tasks/projects
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Experience in implementing and configuring reporting systems
  • Local Government experience preferred
