We’re working with one of New Zealand’s leading foodservice distributors on the hunt for a commercially-minded, field-orientated Sales Manager to take the reins of a high-performing Auckland team. With a strong brand presence, solid growth, and an empowered sales culture, this role is a rare opportunity for a true sales leader to step into a business with huge potential – and the mandate to take it to the next level.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the GM, you’ll lead a team of field Account Managers and a small inside sales team, with the backing of great systems, a strong support crew, and a business that continues to grow. But this isn’t a desk-bound, forecast-only role, you’ll be out in the field 3-4 days a week, coaching, supporting, structuring call cycles, and bringing high-impact sales leadership where it counts: on the ground, with the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a sales team to hit targets, grow margin, and own their territories. They are a good team that’s ready to be great — with the right guidance
- Structuring daily call cycles, supporting new reps, and embedding solid sales process
- Driving business development across existing accounts while pushing further into new territory
- Partnering closely with the GM on strategic planning, reporting, and margin management
- Driving a high-performance, customer-centric culture focused on results and relationships
About you:
You’re a sales hunter through and through. You’ve got the DNA of a deal-closer, but you’ve also got the leadership experience to bring others with you. You're commercially sharp, thrive in a high-autonomy environment, and love spending time with your team in the field — not just driving a laptop.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience leading and coaching high-performing B2B sales teams
- Strong commercial acumen — you get margins, targets, and what it takes to drive growth
- A background in foodservice, FMCG, or other fast-moving field sales environments
- A natural passion for sales process, performance metrics, and strategic thinking
- Experience working with CRM/ERP systems - Salesforce would be highly advantageous
- Energy, drive, resilience, and the ability to make things happen
