He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:

Come and join our team on a fixed term basis to end of June 2027. Our Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) will in addition to the Second Officer Electrical duties, take a higher level of ownership and management for all electrical and electronic equipment on-board Interislander vessels.



Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What (skills) you will bring:

This is a Live-on-Board position where you will be working a 7 days on, 7 days off roster cycle.


The successful applicant will have:


  • The drive to take ownership and management of all electrical systems and equipment to the next level
  • A valid STCW certification and Maritime Medical
  • Hold an ETO certificate of competency
  • Must have a marine background
  • An NZ electrical registration is desired but not essential
  • Completed an ETO training course that meets the required competencies set out in section A-lll6 of the STCW Code.
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft and rescue boats other than Fast Rescue Boats
  • Advanced Fire Fighting
  • Medical First Aid
