Job Description
Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
Zero Harm Manager provides expert health, safety and environment technical advice, management system guidance and practical support to management and staff across the Downer contracts. In doing this, the Zero Harm Manager is contributing to the growth and success of the line of business they support, by working in partnership and coaching / influencing the behaviour of others as required.
Zero Harm Manager will also manage a team of Zero Harm Business Partners who will support various teams and contracts in achieving their Zero Harm objectives.
In particular, the position will be required to:
- Support with the development of Zero Harm strategies and initiatives that will drive behavioural change in the way work is executed within the division.
- Facilitate development of a Zero Harm leadership culture within Downer that is focussed on manager-led delivery of positive Zero Harm outcomes.
- Coach and mentor business portfolio leadership on their specific Zero Harm risk profile and conduct incident trend analysis as required.
- Provide expert health, safety and environment technical advice, guidance and support to management and staff of Downer contracts across an allocated portfolio, including service delivery partners.
- Provide leadership, coaching and manage the performance to the Zero Harm Business Partners.
- Oversight of the delivery and implementation of the Zero Harm Strategy and ensure performance objectives / outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.
- Oversight of the implementation of the Downer Zero Harm management system to existing operational contexts and new business opportunities.
- Oversight of Zero Harm INX Moderation for allocated portfolio as required.
- Lead Zero Harm projects to support achievement of Zero Harm Strategy as requested by Head of Zero Harm.
- Oversight of professional and timely investigation of incidents within business areas or lead complex investigations utilising ICAM or equivalent methodology.
- Lead compliance, complaints handling and auditing processes.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
- Minimum 5 years practical experience within a similar (senior HSE Advisor or Manager) WHS/OHS role.
- Experience in Zero Harm leadership roles (preferred).
- Experience providing technical health, safety and environmental advice across multiple industry sectors.
- Understand of sector specific controls, standards and processes (e.g.
- Infection Control standards).
- Understanding of safety and environmental management systems.
- (ISO45001/ ISO14001) or equivalent standards.
- WHS/OHS legislation/application to an organisation with multiple operating contexts.
- Experience successfully influencing senior operational managers to ensure operational adherence to critical controls.
- Understanding of principles & content of relevant principal and subordinate WHS legislation.
- Solid knowledge of workers compensation and injury management processes and legislation.
- Ability to write professional reports and present key findings to operational and senior management.
