Architectural Glass Products (AGP) is a state-of-the-art glass manufacturing business focused on supplying high-quality products with exceptional service to its customers. AGP operates out of a custom-built world-class facility in Cambridge, just 15 minutes from Hamilton, providing Insulated Glass Units to its client base. AGP is part of the wider APL Group, the market leader of window and doors systems in New Zealand.

Job Description
AGP operates the latest technology in full automation. We have an opportunity for someone who is mechanically minded, highly driven and an experienced maintenance engineer. This role is 50 hours per week working on a rotating roster dependant on business needs.

  • Ensuring that equipment is maintained and when necessary, repaired correctly and in a timely manner
  • Reading and interpreting prints and schematics.
  • Creating a maintenance mindset away from “reactive” to “proactive” in driving machine and equipment reliability.
  • Focusing on equipment reliability and to input to overall equipment effectiveness
  • Helping to plan and execute planned maintenance, preventative maintenance, spare part supply, and contractor services
  • Working with the production team to ensure that every order is completed in full and on time
  • Troubleshooting problems that occur during the manufacturing process


The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a maintenance engineer or fitter role
  • A degree in electrical engineering would be considered an asset but not essential
  • Experience with Automation and/or Electronics will be an advantage
  • The ability to read electrical and/or mechanical drawings will be considered an asset
  • Basic electrical knowledge and welding skills
  • Ability to repair, troubleshoot and install equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance methods and processes
  • Knowledge of PLC and controls programming of industrial automation systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness and ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
