We are looking for a passionate and experienced people leader to join our team as a Manager Community Hub, to manage our busy Mt Roskill Library service and develop a vibrant community hub to serve our growing community, incorporating library services, arts & community services, venue for hire and events. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity leading a team of 15+, based in the Mt Roskill Library with some flexibility around working hours.

Day to day you and your team will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring staff have the knowledge and competency to deliver frontline library and council services, and the confidence to respond to customer requests in a busy and dynamic work environment.
  • Supporting the design and implementation of service improvement initiatives.
  • Engaging with local stakeholders, local partners and service providers supporting community access to our frontline library and council services functions.
  • Planning, promoting, evaluating, and reporting on the services provided.

We’re looking for someone who will be able to hit the ground running, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Leadership and Team Development: Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team.
  • Collaboration and Business Improvement: Working alongside teams and connecting with subject matter experts to ensure challenges are resolved in a constructive, collaborative and timely manner and supporting business improvement solutions.
  • Communication and Relationship Management: Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to manage relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Customer and Community Facing Services: Experience working within a public library environment or similar supporting teams to learn, build knowledge and capability in our mahi with a focus on community engagement, reader services and wider council services.
  • You will be committed to being a great Tiriti o Waitangi partner and you understand the importance of te ao Māori and te reo Māori within our places.

Salary Band H, we are looking to appoint someone between $100,768 and $110,000 dependent on experience.
