Job Description
Position: Debarker Operator
In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the Tauranga Debarker and its related equipment. The Debarker is situated at Tauranga Port and is responsible for processing logs that arrive at the port, preparing them for export overseas. This position is well-suited for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced and highly productive work environment. Ideal candidates for this role should have a mechanical aptitude, as they may be involved in general maintenance of the plant and its associated equipment when necessary.
Location: Tauranga Port
Status: Full-time position with a 4 on, 4 off rotating roster. You will work four days on day shift (2 AM – 2 PM), followed by four days off, then four days on night shift (2 PM – 2 AM) before repeating the cycle.
Your job duties would be:
- Operating the debarker and relevant equipment, excluding loaders, wherever applicable.
- Ensuring quality control of the debarker's output.
- Actively participating in the continuous improvement process, encompassing aspects like health and safety, plant procedures, training, and environmental concerns.
- Managing the workflow for log intake and the storage of processed logs.
You will also need to:
- Clean driver’s license
- Mechanical background preferred
- Machine operating experience is a bonus
- Full training will be provided, previous experience is not essential
- Have eligibility to work in NZ.
