Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Teacher to lead our Infants room, catering to up to 25 infants across two rooms in our well established centre.

The ideal candidate will align with RIE principles, practice primary caregiving, and foster a respectful, holistic approach to early childhood education. Strong communication, a positive team culture, and knowledge of planning, assessment, and ECE regulations are essential.

Our centre philosophy focuses on creating a warm, welcoming environment where children grow at their own pace, with an emphasis on relationships and belonging. As Head Teacher, you will mentor your team, ensure compliance, and champion a child-led, play-based approach to learning. Full Teacher Certification is required.

This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. We can be flexible with 4 x 10 hour days or 5 x 8 hour days.

Role requirements:

We're looking for a natural leader who shares our values and vision who has a good understanding of programme planning and assessment as well as a drive and passion for growth. As well as:

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current teacher registration/certification
  • A strong understanding of programme planning, pedagogy and curriculum
  • Good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
