What will you do?
As our Head of Commercial and Contracts, you'll be at the heart of ensuring our Development and Property projects run smoothly and successfully. Your role will be all about creating and embedding strong contract management systems that keep everything on track, on budget, and delivering real value. From overseeing contracts for design, development, and construction to guiding teams in managing risks and maximising opportunities, you'll be making a tangible impact every day.
You'll also take the lead in our tendering process, making sure we evaluate and negotiate contracts thoroughly to get the best outcomes for our projects. Working closely with both internal teams and external partners, you'll build strong relationships to keep everything aligned and running smoothly. Plus, you'll have the chance to share your expertise by supporting and upskilling our Development and Property team, ensuring they're set up for success.
We are flexible to location for the right candidate - NZ or Melbourne, AU.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee contracts to ensure projects meet deadlines, budgets, and performance goals.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and Ryman standards.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
- Maintain up-to-date contract documentation for audits and reviews.
- Lead the tendering process, ensuring thorough evaluation and negotiation of contracts.
- Collaborate and align procurement practices across the portfolio.
- Drive risk mitigation and value enhancement strategies.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external contractors to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
- Inspire and mentor
- Champion health, safety, and wellbeing, fostering a "Do it safely or not at all" culture.
- Support sustainability initiatives and align team efforts with Ryman's goals.

Who are you?
- Extensive experience in contract management, ideally within Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractors, or a consultancy background with strong commercial and contractual acumen.
- Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with a focus on mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing leadership.
- Ability to drive performance and align with Ryman's values and goals.
