Te wero – The Challenge
As the Manager of Te Ahu Museum & Archives, you’ll be responsible for overseeing both the museum and archives operations at Te Ahu and Pioneer House in Kaitaia. You'll lead a dedicated team to manage exhibitions, educational programs, and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage. Key to this role is building strong relationships with iwi and other stakeholders to ensure the repatriation of taonga and fostering partnerships in line with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This is an opportunity to shape the future of the museum, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards while celebrating the unique history of the Far North.
I ā koe - About You
We're seeking a passionate and experienced leader with a background in museums, archives, or cultural heritage management. You’ll bring strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate a team, and a talent for building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders. An intermediate understanding and application of Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori is an advantage, and your commitment to upholding ethical museum practices will be key to your success.
