About the role
As the new Field Service Engineer you will sit within the IT Operations function based in Timaru.
You will be focused on creating an outstanding customer experience for our internal staff. You will need a strong sense of ownership and ability to build relationships with internal customers and stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring that requests and incidents within the infrastructure domain, in Sanford's onshore locations and its vessels, are completed to agreed SLAs with the business. You will be part of a team responsible for managing and maintaining our IT Infrastructure ensuring it aligns to the overall IT roadmap and risks are identified, recorded, managed, and executed. Your role will be critical in ensuring that our staff have the correct tools for the job and have access to their applications when needed.
Key accountabilities
- Ensures that infrastructure related incidents and requests are prioritised and completed within agreed SLAs
- Upgrades to IT infrastructure are identified, prioritised, planned for, and executed to a high standard
- Ensuring vendors and suppliers complete their tasks to the appropriate standards
- Identify risks within our IT environment and ensure they are captured, assigned, and managed appropriately (with risk mitigation or risk acceptance in place)
- Ensure relevant security controls are in place across our IT infrastructure domain
- Demonstrates customer focus and understanding of the impacts of IT incidents relative to Sanford's business operations
- Support infrastructure-related project activity as required
- Support the transfer of knowledge amongst your colleagues, ensuring handover documentation and relevant information is shared with the Sanford IT Helpdesk team
What you will bring to the role
- 5+ years as an Infrastructure Support Engineer/Field Service Engineer, ideally with customer facing responsibilities
- Tertiary qualification in IT/Engineering preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of IT systems and networks
- Strong customer focus and ability to create meaningful stakeholder relationships
- Participation in Health and Safety improvement processes
- Ability to work autonomously in different locations when required
