About the role

We are looking for a candidate who is dynamic in the way of developing Engineering software applications to promote the integration of information technology and electrical engineering on our decarbonisation journey. The transition to a “Net Zero” carbon emissions electricity system will mean that we must look at the technology of the future and how we prepare ourselves to capitalise on these new innovations.

You will assist the transition to the smart flexible distribution network of the future, enabling WEL to realise its ambition of becoming a Distribution System Operator (DSO).

You will also lead the Network Innovation & Performance (NIP) IT solution development, software application evaluation, and IT solution delivery to accelerate the transformation to a future service model, enabling WEL to operate as a DSO.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A tertiary qualification in IT, Software Engineering or Computer Science, with basic knowledge of the Electricity Industry
  • A minimum of 7 years software engineering experience, preferably in an utility environment
  • Experience in software application development, configuration and commissioning
  • Sound technical knowledge in Azure Cloud Architect, Linux and Windows OS, API Development, SQL, PowerShell, Python, Docker, Networking, C# development
