The HSW Strategy Planning and Learning team supports the management of health and safety within COO (office of the Chief Operating Officer) and forms part of the Global Health, Safety, and Wellbeing team. Across COO, the support provided by the team involves working with leaders and teams within NZ Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Global Engineering & Technology, Food Safety & Quality and supporting business units.
The team has embarked on a significant transformation programme to continue a journey of improvement in health and safety and is working with the business to embed new mindsets and practices including the implementation of Human and Organisational Performance and operational learning approaches.
About the opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga
As the Safety Leadership & Organisational Performance Lead you will provide functional leadership for safety culture and leadership programmes, systems, and tools. It aims to effectively apply human and organisational performance (HOP) principles and safe operating mindset principles (SOMP). The role also supports the incorporation of human-centered design and systems thinking into HSW Systems and solutions.
This role focusses on embedding human factors and systems thinking into our work design, creating tools, programs and systems that enhance safety culture and leadership capability. You will be collaborating across teams to deliver practical, scalable solutions that optimise organisational performance.
This role reports to the Culture, Systems & Solutions Manager.
Other key tasks include:
- Embedding safety leadership expectations into organisational systems, providing practical resources and training to foster a safety-focused and resilient workplace.
- Develop, design, and implement safety culture change initiatives. Measure the effectiveness of safety culture change initiatives.
- Support the development of a safety governance and assurance framework.
- Lead the design and delivery of training programmes and workshops, focusing on the practical application of human factors, work design and safety leadership principles.
- Design and deliver artefacts, materials, and communication tools that promote human factors, Human and Organisational Performance principles, and leadership capability concepts.
- Provide expert advice on human factors and organisational performance principles to help inform our programmes, insights and performance reporting. You will be the trusted advisor in this space.
About you | Mōu
To set yourself up for success in this role you will have experience in Health Safety and Wellbeing Governance, Safety Climate and Human and Organisational Performance.
You will have spent a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a leadership role within safety leadership, governance and capability development as well as have a sound understanding of safety culture and leadership both in theory and practice. You may have a background in Organisational Psychology and/or Human Factors as well as experience in adult education.
As this role will involve travel to our sites, you will need to have the ability to travel.
