Job Description

The BDM role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with partners and lawyers to grow the business and strengthen their existing client experience, this involves pitches, business development plans, budgets, market profiles and tracking and ROI reporting.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively with the Clients & Markets team to deliver on strategic objectives, annual plans and projects.
- Develop, draft, implement, track progress against KPI’s, identify opportunities and report on practice and sector group business plans.
- Lead the firm’s pursuit of new business opportunities for your areas.
- Work with partners to seek out, research, facilitate and then develop new client and cross selling opportunities.
- Analyse market data and recommend new initiatives to increase profitability and maximise value.
- Support the Clients & Markets team in the development and delivery of tailored business development training for legal teams.
- BD plans (both at a practice and individual level), budgets, market profile, directory submissions, tracking and reporting on progress and accounting for return of investment.
- Lead the annual legal directory and award submissions for the firm.
Skills and experience required:
The ideal Business Development Manager will bring a wealth of experience in a similar role within a professional services environment. You will have excellent communication skills including strong presentation skills. Your proven track record in achieving successful outcomes against stated business development objectives will be highly regarded. Additionally, your sound analytical skills will enable you to interpret market/client/financial data effectively.
- Relevant tertiary qualification, ideally in marketing and / or business with a minimum of 5-6 years’ relevant experience.
- Proven strength in business development capability, ideally in a professional services environment.
- Experience working with senior decision makers to develop, execute, track and report on group business plans.
- Excellent communication skills including strong presentation skills.
- Sound analytical skills, in particular the ability to interpret market / client / financial data.
- Strong interpersonal skills - the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
