This is a fantastic opportunity for you to take the next step in your career and join our Workplace technology team as a Principal Engineer, a new role in our team. This is a senior role in an energised and engaged team with a big vision. You’ll work alongside our platform leads and play a key part in defining and delivering our modernisation strategy, as well as leading and mentoring our technical teams.

We have two Principal Engineer roles to fill with different specialisations. One of these roles will focus on our core collaboration and productivity toolset. The other should be a Microsoft specialist with key skills in Intune, SCCM, and device/OS management.

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Run brown bags and coaching sessions to uplift our technical teams and promote a culture of learning and development.
  • Bring a technical best practice mindset to decision making in the team.
  • Get hands on to support delivery of our key workstreams.
  • Experiment to solve tough technical challenges.
  • Support resolution of incidents whether minor or significant.


What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?

We have an exciting stream of modernisation work this year, including:

  • Exiting legacy software like Lotus Domino and SCCM.
  • Migration of our Windows fleet to Intune management.
  • Leveraging OneDrive document management.
  • Internal communications tool re-platforming.


What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

This is a brand new role in our expanding team, supporting our modernisation journey with best practices and strong technical architecture that will carry us into the future.

What technical skills are REQUIRED for this role?

Some or all of the below:

  • Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
  • Intune and Systems Centre Configuration Manager.
  • Excellent understanding of both macOS and Windows operating systems, and mobile management.
  • Collaboration & Productivity tools, including Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Viva Engage, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Teams meeting rooms.
  • Strong networking knowledge – both LAN and WiFi networks.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to “translate the technical”.
  • Sound reasoning and decision-making skills.
