Our Treasury function is responsible for funding and financing Wellington City Council's long-term plan and insuring our precious taonga, strategically using all financial tools available to us within the local government setting. With a focus on the 'big picture' this team leads treasury, investment, and insurances for the Council.

The role

The Treasury Team are looking for an Advisor Treasury & Funding to provide support with:

  • The insurance function to process claims enquiries and insurance renewals.
  • Participation in strategic management of our insurance portfolio including alternative risk transfer mechanisms.
  • Management of investments and the balance sheet.
  • Investigation, development and implementation of funding and finance tools.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Financial risk management.


About you

You'll be working within treasury and developing a career in this specialist function, ideally presenting with knowledge of the unique environment of local government. Experience in corporate insurance activities is also a key component of this role. You will be a proactive learner and have a knowledge of financial markets/economics.

An understanding of the operations of treasury and insurance functions will assist with success in this role, as will proven, analytical skills and a knowledge of banking relationships and covenants. Polished communication skills are essential.
