Job Description

The Company
Is a boutique engineering consultancy based in an open plan modern office in Newmarket. Their team of engineers is helmed by two managers (Director and Associate) with draughting and admin support. They provide multi-disciplinary engineering expertise for a variety of commercial projects including civil and structural engineering design, ceiling and building component seismic design, and 3D modelling.

They are looking for a Building Components Structural Engineer to add to their Auckland team. They would also consider Christchurch based applicants to join their satellite office there.

The Role

  • Engineering design of non-structural elements such as building services, ceilings, partitions
  • Liaising with clients and with architects about feasibility and aesthetic
  • Have a working knowledge of, and keeping up to date with, current NZ Standards
  • Hand sketches and calculations for specific engineering design cases
  • Conduct site inspections and coordinating with contractors through the construction phase


About You
The ideal candidate will be willing to learn and implement the company systems and standards and work in a collaborate environment alongside senior engineers to find approved solutions to complex problems, as well as receiving advice within the team from the job manager.

In addition:

  • Suitable technical background such as Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Structural or Mechanical)
  • Excellent 3D visualisation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must be currently in New Zealand
  • Must be a New Zealand citizen, resident or hold a current work visa
  • Experience with seismic bracing design of non-structural elements would be an advantage
