Job Description

Ko wai mātou – About us
Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square right? That’s us! With 300+ stores and over 24,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Maui, our North Island Co-op has the privilege of helping New Zealanders get more out of life. Locally owned, we reflect the communities we serve, and we celebrate our people - our taonga, every day for being uniquely them.

Our Merchandise team works with supplier partners and store teams on category ranging, buying, pricing and promotions so we can get the right products on the right shelves at the right time for our customers.

Te Tūranga – About the role
As a Category Manager for Deli and Meal Solutions, you’ll be responsible for the strategic implementation of a range of products across our stores such as store made meals, hot chickens, ready made pizzas and Simply Dinner meal kits to name a few. You’ll provide expert knowledge across your Category working closely with our Owner/Operators, influencing and engaging with plans, collaborating with supply partners, driving sales and performance whilst also leading and coaching a team.

To achieve this, some of what you’ll do is:
· Run your category as a strategic business unit, delivering on financial targets and using customer insights to unlock growth.
· Plan, organise and operate the category, align priorities with overall company strategy and create & deliver goals, measures and transformation.
· Manage the administration within the category - including pricing, range changes, promotions, discontinuations, New Product Development (NPD) and regulatory compliance.
· Review promotion effectiveness, analyse, negotiate, and inform any changes are required to the remaining planned promotions.
· Collaboratively innovate Meal Kit NPD under the FSNI brand: Simply Dinner. Maintain costings and support inventory procurement and management alongside the Supplier partner(s).

Ngā painga - What we offer
We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits:
· Free carparking - we’ve got over 1,000 carparks including 36 free EV plugs
· Southern cross health insurance, Foodies superannuation scheme
· Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini mart, 5% discount at our retail stores
· Flexible working options, a day off on your birthday, long service leave
· Inhouse learning and development programmes and courses, flu vaccinations, and social network groups (we call them Tribes).

He kōrero mōu - About you
Passionate about food, you could be working in the food service industry, armed with knowledge of how a commercial kitchen works and experience from being in the office, costing recipes to being on the tools. With a commercial mind-set you’ll also be entrepreneurial with proven experience in planning and strategy execution.

Key to your success in the role will also include:
· A solid understanding of market trends and influences, both within New Zealand and globally with a drive to continuously stay ahead of the game.
· Prior experience in the Deli and Meal Solutions Categories is preferred although not essential.
· Very strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
· Excellent planning and communication skills with the ability to collaborate and clearly articulate ideas/concepts and effectively present to others.

We’re interested in your diverse experiences, your strengths and how adaptable you are to learn and grow. If you don't meet every requirement, but feel this role could be for you, we’d still love to hear from you!

Experience awesome. Achieve awesome. Be awesomely you.
