He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Māori Outcomes teams within Auckland Council work towards achieving a Tāmaki Makaurau where Māori thrive by delivering our 10 mana outcomes and strategic priorities guided by Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau, our Māori outcomes performance measurement framework.

The Community Māori Outcomes team sits at the centre of our largest operational directorate in council, providing support to 5 departments – Parks & Community Facilities, Environmental Services, Community Wellbeing, Pools & Leisure & Licensing & Compliance, to deliver better outcomes for Māori and all Aucklanders.

As a graduate in this team, you may be involved in projects that include:

  • Engagement with Mana Whenua & Mātāwaka
  • Marae support and development
  • Environmental programmes, monitoring and engagement
  • Supporting the development and delivery of arts, culture and events programmes that support Māori Culture & Identity
  • Identifying opportunities for Māori to live healthy, active lives
  • Development of quality advice to influence the decision-making process

We’re seeking a dynamic and passionate graduate who embodies the drive and initiative needed to thrive in this unique role. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly motivated
  • A confident communicator
  • Understanding of mātauranga Māori and tikanga Māori
  • A team player
  • Excellent at building and maintaining relationships
  • Willingness to learn
  • Fluent in Te Reo Māori - Preferred


To be eligible to apply, you must have the following:
Be eligible to work in New Zealand, or be eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree obtained between January 2024 – January 2026

  • Te Reo, Te Āo Māori, Mātauranga Māori Studies
  • Humanities
  • Environmental Studies
