About the team

The Asset Management team at WEL is increasing our skill sets to address the decarbonisation challenge facing NZ. We have been recognised by our peers at the EEA conference with the People's Choice paper for our work associated with Distributed Energy Resources (DER) management and our journey of transition to a true DSO. Because of our investment in metering, and our work around DER and DSO, we have access to tools and information not available elsewhere in New Zealand. With this, and our investment in additional skill sets, you will be joining a team that will set a new standard for asset management within New Zealand.

About the role

As a Lifecyle Engineer you will have asset ownership of the key asset class substation equipment for our network. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal balance between asset lifecycle cost and network reliability. This will include development of asset strategy, maintenance plans, a digital twin and CBRM analysis, review of network data, setting maintenance standards and investigation of failures.

About you

Along with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent qualification) we are looking for someone who brings us:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a substation environment working on long life assets
  • Knowledge of and experience in the application of the relevant acts, regulations and codes of practice that govern our industry
  • A collaborative approach to problem solving and sharing knowledge
  • A holistic and proactive approach to safety, health, and wellbeing
