Job Description
Tradestaff are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Fitter to grow our existing team in Taupo. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair tasks on a large project for equipment, systems, and machinery.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical faults to ensure efficient and safe operation.
- Perform work on pumps, valves, motors, generators, turbines, and other plant machinery.
- Work at heights, including scaffolding, ladders, and aerial work platforms, as required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with planned maintenance, emergency repairs, and shutdowns.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any issues to the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a fitter or in a similar mechanical maintenance role, ideally within the power generation or industrial sector.
- Proven ability to work at heights safely and effectively.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience working with a variety of industrial machinery.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work in a team and independently, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working on large sites.
- Working at Heights will be preferred and Confined Space Qualifications desired.
