We are seeking a skilled and motivated Drain Layers with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of drainage systems on a large Christchurch project.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain stormwater and wastewater drainage systems, including pipes, culverts, and manholes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and specifications to ensure accurate execution of projects.
• Excavate and prepare trenches using manual and mechanical methods.
• Measure and cut pipes to required lengths and secure connections to ensure a watertight system.
• Ensure compliance with local council regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
• Inspect and test drainage systems to identify and resolve leaks, blockages, or other issues.
• Operate and maintain relevant tools and machinery, including excavators, compactors, and laser levels.
• Work collaboratively with other team members, contractors, and site managers to meet project deadlines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are used safely and effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

• 1 to 2 years of experience in drain laying or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of drainage systems, materials, and installation techniques.
• Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Time management and ability to meet deadlines.

Certifications/Licenses

• Drain laying certification
• Full class 1 & 2 would be preferred but not essential
• WTR preferred but not essential
