Job Description
As a Duty Operations Manager, you will oversee daily operations, managing staff, equipment, and resources for handling logs, bulk products, palletised cargo, and containers. Responsibilities include planning vessel arrivals, supervising loading and unloading, and acting as the primary contact for customers, agents, and port representatives, while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Acting Port Operations Manager, you will;
- Maintain a strong focus on health and safety performance across all operations.
- Oversee 2-3 Shift Managers, providing leadership and guidance to foster a cohesive and effective team environment.
- Manage the Lyttelton workload for part-time Mechanical & Engineering and Health & Safety South Island team members.
- Play a proactive role in building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Ensure the efficient and effective allocation of machinery and equipment.
- Oversee the daily management of resources to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
The key skills & attributes required for this role include:
- Natural leadership with the ability to coordinate multiple operations and resources.
- Proficient in computer skills.
- Practical thinker with the ability to adapt plans according to situational demands.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Prior experience as a Stevedoring Shift Manager or in a similar management position.
