Job Description

  • Proactively drive a strong risk culture at ASB across the technology modernisation (Core Banking and CRM).
  • Lead and contribute to initiatives that support the Risk Strategy.
  • Providing expert advice to the organisation and keeping abreast of best practice.
  • Provide strong review and challenge across the business.


This role reports into the Head of Specialist Risk Oversight within our Line 2 risk team responsible for leading oversight of specialist risk types (such as Technology, Cyber, Models & AI Risk) as well as leading our Business Resilience and Crisis Management Centre of Excellence.

Mo te tūranga | About the Role:

  • Monitoring, oversight and constructive review and challenge to ensure adherence to risk management frameworks and policies at ASB across Technology modernisation.
  • Monitor risk exposure through delivery and implementation of key milestones, surfacing material trends or themes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise via constructive review, challenge and advice to senior Line 1 stakeholders and committees on material risks, issues, and control design.
  • Increasing organisational capability on assigned specialist risk areas.
  • Improving the maturity of controls through challenge and coaching.
  • Collaborate with peers to provide mutual support across Centres of Excellence, CBA, Line 2 assurance, other specialist areas and the business.
  • Contribute at both a divisional and bank-wide level across key forums and governance committees, including the Board.

Seeking an experienced leader with the ability to engage, challenge and influence across senior leadership and Executives in the business, including experience in material Technology transformation and change programmes either in Line 1 or Line 2 or consultancy.

  • Strong understanding of risk management fundamentals.
  • Experience in large scale, complex, data driven organisations.
  • Financial services experience is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships.
  • Business advisory and assurance experience.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding and application of Agile practices.
