Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Reducing Youth Offending Programme has been established to address the Government's commitment to reduce youth offending within New Zealand. The programme consists of several legislative and operational components that will enable Oranga Tamariki to deliver Youth Justice services differently and lead to a safer environment for young people and our kaimahi and consists of projects that are in-flight and at various stages of design and delivery.

Driving impactful change, you will partner with leaders and teams to deliver seamless transformation across our business. From coordinating complex projects and managing risks to ensuring new capabilities are embedded, this role keeps change on track. By fostering focus, momentum, and alignment, you will ensure each project under your watch delivers value and the overall programme achieves its fullest potential.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

We are looking for our next leader of change with the proven ability to see the "big picture" and understand the strategic context of projects. Some other key requirements of the role include:

  • Minimum of eight years' professional experience, at least 5 of which as a senior change manager. Prior experience in youth/justice sector would be an advantage.
  • Effective leadership, verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in delivering large-scale business-change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
