We are looking for a passionate, experienced Senior Māori Engagement Advisor to enhance engagement outcomes for Māori in Pōneke. In this new and exciting role, you will support the design, develop, and implementation of Council projects from a Te Ao Māori perspective, collaborate with engagement kaimahi, and build strategic partnerships with mana whenua. This role strengthens existing relationships and identifies new partnerships to benefit Māori, ensuring their perspectives are included in Council projects for better engagement.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Connecting Council projects with the community and mana whenua by applying a Māori perspective to engagement mahi.
- Providing advice and input into projects and cross-Council initiatives from a Te Ao and Tikanga Māori viewpoint to maximise opportunities for iwi and Māori living in Pōneke.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Māori leaders and hapori at all levels.
- Supporting the design, development, and implementation of engagement approaches, and advising and providing input into the strategic partnership and engagement programs of other parts of the Council.
- Working as a key part of the Engagement Leadership Team to help the Engagement Business Unit to uplift their capability in engaging with Māori.
Mōu ake:
- You will be suited to this role if you have experience providing strategic engagement planning and delivery support at a Senior Advisor level, coupled with experience supporting complex projects, ideally in a political environment and/or with mana whenua.
- As an experienced Engagement professional, you will be comfortable leading community engagement/consultation to reach diverse audiences, particularly Māori, while also being capable of developing engagement plans and strategies.
- It is essential that you are comfortable navigating Māori spaces and can naturally integrate Tikanga and Ao Māori concepts and values throughout your work and relationships.
- We are interested in candidates who are committed to the success of Māori and want to work collaboratively to create impactful change for the community.
- We are looking to appoint between $106,187 - $124,926 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.
